Kitengela Glass is an oasis in a semi-arid area. A resident to incredible artists as well as wild and domestic animals. The artist mostly use recycled glass to create unique art pieces. We train and promote creativity in our artists. Guests get to enjoy an array of hidden discoveries and with accommodation on ground and recreational activities unforgettable memories are formed.

GLASS MAKING

Before you can get a beautifully exquisite glass art the raw material has to go through a process.

Recycling

Using recycled bottles of all kinds, window glass, even broken household glass items and turns the shards into exquisitely colored glass for blowing, sheet glass to use in stained glass and dalles to use in dalle de verre work.

The furnace

The recycled glass is put into a furnace that burns at minimum 1500 celcius degrees where the glass melts. once melted it can be manipulated into the beads, blown glass, stained glass and dalle de verre.

To Edwin, “art is everything.” Edwin has been at Kitengela Glass for 19 years. He had been in university but had to drop out after the first year when his father, who had been paying his tuition, passed away. Edwin learned about Kitengela Glass through a friend who was working as a plumber here who thought he might want to apply. He has been here ever since, and says it has had a very positive influence on his life.
